I am a landscape painter, not a very realistic one, but the natural world is where I begin. At some point my imagination must take over, otherwise I discard the painting. I am interested in the way people look at the natural world as something very outside themselves that they seem to want to be transported by, or acquire some meaning from. When it is not merely descriptive, a landscape painting can mimic the wanderings of the human mind when it is confronted by the world.
